Orgeron will NOT be fired after this season.
Correct. New AD in the spring means O gets a third year and no more unless he succeeds.

Define “succeeds”. O could lose 5 this season and be on the hottest of seats for the next season. He proceeds to go 8-4 in 2019. Ok. What do you do? He improved.
You gonna fire a coach who improved? I have a strangely bad feeling we may be riding the mediocre train for awhile.

This. LSU isn't going to toss more money into the buyout fire at this point.
If O tanks at 6-6 or 7-5 this year, it's Alleva's arse. He put his neck on the line with the shitty O hire and he'll be the first casualty of that decision.
Alleva gets canned and a new AD comes into and gets to run an assessment and put together a plan for his athletic department.

Orgeron's two-way buyout with the program is $12 million this year and drops every subsequent year of the contract. It slips to $8.5 million in 2018, $6 million in 2019, $4.5 million in 2020 and just $1 million for the final year.
Alleva really fricked LSU with the buyout numbers. The reality is, LSU is likely going to have to swallow a few years of mediocrity until O's buyout gets more palatable. He's almost certainly got next year and probably 2020 as well
