The shot clock and the 20 second clear are going to create a great deal more end-to-end running. It will likely require teams to go deeper into their benches, and I like that aspect of it as a former parent. I mean, you see Hop. and 'Cuse, for example, come out with like 40 guys but how many actually get into the game?
I can see a fair number of turnovers and violations coming from either too slow or too forced play. Certainly a 20 second clearance favors the defense to an extent, giving more importance to the ride and only having to hold the ride to 20 seconds.
I would think a team like Denver will be adversely affected, at first, as they like to play a disciplined offense, with constant motion and perimeter passing to get just the right shot. The 60 second clock will force their hand a bit.
