I disagree strongly. I think it sent a lot of regressive messages that stagnated black Americans despite the fact that it was "edgy" and "cool".

Black music went from beautiful talented voices, tuxedos, and smiles to "attitude" and spitting as many curse words as possible into microphones while brandishing guns, money, and hoes with voluptuous asses.

That's stupid. Music has always had an influence on culture, the anti war movement of the 60s for example
