Maybe it's already been discussed, but why would he reclassify to 2018 if he is hurt and would just redshirt this year anyhow ?
Is it to become familiar with Wade's system?

It was either reclassify or head to a prep school. So better for him to graduate early, get a much better training staff to recuperate with, get in our strength program (which is doing work already) and get a year under his belt in Wade's system
Wade is just on a warpath right now and wants to leave the SEC in his wake

My guess is that it would have something to do with access to LSU’s medical staff and facilities instead of his HS’s.

From what I have gathered in reading other stuff, I believe the main reason is because he was already graduating from h.s.; therefore, if he had not reclassified, he likely would have just done a year at a prep school; so why not go ahead and reclassify. Now he gets into a college training program and has the rehab care of a college staff. Plus he has the added benefit of being around the program, practicing with the team once he is well enough, and learns the system, all which will give him a leg up on incoming 2019 class next year. When you look at it from that perspective, it makes a lot of sense and is a very smart decision for him.

He’s ineligible to play HS basketball this year. My guess is that it’s an age reason. If he didn’t reclassify he was going to transfer to a prep school
