And man is this the best advancement of a sports title in a hot minute. 1v1v1 is a blast, huge increase in customization options, and a revamped skating engine.
This series had more or less been the same since 2013 but they finally mixed it up this year

It’s really sick. It’s much more fluid and feels like you’re playing hockey again. Also, thank God you can’t spam the poke check. Played a kid who had 5 penalties in the first period bc that’s all he was doing.

The new online game modes (threes and pond hockey) are so fun. It is hard to go from one of those free for all’s to an actual “online versus” just because it feels like penalties are called every minute. Way too many tripping calls when my defenseman is face to face with the man with the puck.

I downloaded the demo the other day, do you have to play online? I didnt see a offline option. I havent played one of these games in years and really dont want to try to learn by playing someone else

I didn’t see an offline option either. If it makes you feel better, my first 2 opponents on online versus were much worse than the computer would’ve been and it’s been a couple years since I played...

The penalties need to get better. I had 14 minutes through 2 periods this morning. You might as well never press the poke check or stick lift button. It’s an automatic penalty no matter where your guy is in relation to the man w/ the puck.

Poke spamming had become such an issue that I was glad to see them go the complete opposite direction. Force the community to relearn how to play the game
