I mentioned this in anther thread (maybe replying to you) but I feel like this is a mischaracterization of the beginning of social media.
I agree that Twitter and FB censor opinions that differ from theirs - no argument there. However, I don't remember any political BS on either platform at the beginning either. Now it is completely rampant. I guess my point is the censorship is addressing what is a relatively new phenomenon for those platforms, particularly Facebook.
