I think Miles could've had a shot at a closer game than that.
Based on what exactly?
His history against Saban in Tiger Stadium

Better chances don't give me chubbies....sorry. He couldn't beat him anymore...period. I'm not looking for a closer game....I'm looking for a win.

Totally agree there.
Any thoughts on when that W will be coming our way?

We won't beat Bama with O at the helm either unless Bama plays a game where they turn the ball over a dozen times or so...and then just maybe we pull one out.

Oh, another member of the swamp trash contingent speaks up. You’ve continuously embarrassed yourself by openly displaying your stupidity on this board. By all means, carry on.

I meant it to be my opinion. That's why I started my post with "I personally believe."
But when I posted it, I thought to myself that someone was going to call me out, thinking that I was saying it would have been a fact.

Yeah, declaring absolutes really makes you sound like a reasonable person.

There is no way to state facts when you're talking about the LSU football program.

Yes, from the fricktard that sides with O and Alleva. I’m sure we’re all very, very impressed with your mental abilities.

Les was a great recruiter at one point. He got his arse handed to him on 1/9/12 and was never the same after. We should have beaten Bama in Nov 12, but Les got in his own way. We could have won the NC that year. He started recruiting for high profile...DBU and such. He converted guards to tackles which is one reason why our passing game struggled, but our RBs got their numbers. He left the roster so unbalanced. When he was fired there were more kickers on scholarship than linebackers. I don’t miss him at all and some of you need to get over it.
Orgeron was not a good hire. He has shown his weakness in managing a team. He was railroaded with and by Canada. At least he is balancing the roster and plugging glaring holes left by Les. He has to win big to stay. I’m a fan so I want LSU to win, and that is de facto supporting O. He is what we got. But, lose more than 4 and don’t let the door hit you in the arse.

But I do wander if Miles has been there to hire Canada. Or if he would’ve fired Cam and got Canada one year earlier
Miles would've seen right through the smoke and mirror offense Matt ran.
Against 11 much harder schedules, Miles fielded 10 offenses that scored more ppg than MC.

I want to state the same point in two threads, but I'll leave it here since this question is more on topic than the Miles OOC record thread.
To answer OP, I don't think LSU would have a plus/minus in 2016 if Miles wasn't fired and O promoted to interim. I think Miles would have regrouped and the outcome of the season very similar.
Miles tenure was full of near-disasters, yet we tended to come out positive more often than not. The final moment of the AU loss was initially called a win. But LSU got caught in Miles clock mismanagement which had plagued his tenure.
Add on top of this, the want to fire Miles at the end of 2015 that got derailed by the complete lack of alpha leadership - make business decisions with your brain, not your heart -- or pseudo agenda.
Then the same poor leadership, after missing their opportunity in 2015 to fire Miles, decides to fire him 4 games in 2016, have 4 months to find an appropriate replacement - only to hand the job to a Miles subordinate. But not an unproven home-run potential hire. Instead, leadership hires the worst coach in Ole Miss history, that only has position coaching and interim tags on his resume since his last time running a program. This isn't a guy that said, yep, failed at Ole Miss, need to regroup, find a HC job and build a program to show my chops.
2017 was an AU comeback win from becoming a complete derailed train-wreck disaster.
Les teetered on that line many times, but always rallied the horses and won just enough. I don't think 2016 would have been different.
The issue is, Les did need to go, but it's not about who you fire, it's about who you hire. And LSU leadership clearly had zero resolve to hire an adequate replacement for Miles.

Then we'd still have our 1970's offensive game plan.

And a win against Florida in 16 and a win against Troy last year. That would suck.
