I think the going theory at the moment is that the NRA links to Russians are what has most mainstream Rs in Congress so concerned. The NRA spends millions in support of GOP candidates and I think some of them are worried that if the NRA/Russian connection is true, how much Russian money was backing me in my last election?

That’s why you see statements against trump doing stuff but little to no action. It’s simple self-preservation af this point.
