So the USL is on espn2 tonight and the MLS is on espn+.
What sense does that make?

They are trying to entice people to sign up for ESPN+ by having a big number of MLS games on it. They likely picked up that USL game at the last second because this is a top 5 slowest sports days of the year.

Considering the MLS team are Minnesota and New England, not at all.
But this is one of the few USL games that will be on tv this year.

Mike Jeffries in the Charlotte coach. Dude started lafreniers select program.
I remember playing against them back in the day.
Was also a new orleans riverboat gamblers coach.
Good for him.

Cincinnati is the most successful USL market so they’re trying to showcase the league in its best light to attract more viewers. Pretty much all regular USL games are on ESPN+, along with MLS games.
Cincy averages about 25K fans and will be in MLS next year. Looked like a good crowd tonight for a Wednesday game.
Speaking of MLS expansion, Nashville’s stadium lease was officially approved today. The current plans are a stadium that seats 27,500 and is expandable to 32,500.
Big news in Miami today, as well. Jorge Mas and the Beckham ownership group got the city council to approve the stadium lease negotiations to go to a public vote in November. So big progress there after a long silence. The vote should pass. The final step would be securing the lease from the city council.

ESPN execs:
We paid Greenberg, Beadle, and Rose $15 million for ratings lower than 25 year old Saved by the Bell reruns.
Let's start something called ESPN+ and charge for it.
Brilliant

All of this pisses me off

this is as solid as your "randy weaver's daughter is a milf" troll thread on the OT.

This is a dumb take. The Get Up decision comes from the exact opposite thinking than the ESPN+ decision. Ones old way, the other new way.
With UFC coming to ESPN and in large part ESPN+ along with special shows and MLS etc...itll be a good venture.
has absolutely nothing to do with terrible regular programming. I hope yall get used to pay walls cause thats the future of the internet.

Why’s that? I think all three will be fine addditions to the league. Especially Miami, if Beckham & Co. can clear the last few hurdles.

because St Louis completely dropped the ball. So im stuck with USL.

Ah, I see.
Yeah, that was disappointing. St. Louis would be a great MLS city. Such rich history in American soccer.
But I think you’ll get another chance in the next round of expansion. You just need an ownership group that won’t ask for public money, like the group in Miami isn’t. That’s why the St. Louis vote failed, especially with the Rams fiasco a recent memory.
We know for sure MLS will expand to 28 teams very soon, and I really don’t think it’ll stop there, regardless of what Don Garber says publicly. I fully expect MLS to have 30 or 32 teams by the time time we host the World Cup, and potentially more than that in split league down the road.

Quick Bump:
St Louis appears to be back in the expansion running's. They just announced it today, but I had heard a few weeks ago this was coming. Apparently we have way more support and money this time forward than last. Also, seems like MLS is refusing to give up hope that St Louis gets a team.

The Danish and Swedish leagues make it tempting just to catch some of the young Americans that are coming through.
