Mongolia was not ancient times.
And heavy infinity was much more important in ancient warfare and we actually really don't hear much about what calvary and light infantry are doing outside of the huns and parthians. But light Calvary is mentioned more often in general. But as the spear phalanx was the main formation at the time, calavary did t have huge chances like it did later
