Quick rundown on the Garmin 235 after a week of use.

GPS Accuracy: Improved. Actually it kind of pisses me off that my old watch was always short. All my Strava PRs are from training runs not actual races because of this.

Heart Rate: Trash. But we already knew this, which leads me to...

VO2 Calculator: LOL. Says my vO2 is 62. Nope. 56 on my best day. Useless.

Pace: Accurate but takes longer to report for some odd reason.

I upgraded because my used 220’s battery was starting to run down too quickly and it also liked to reset during runs. Uploading became a pain too.

Verdict: If you need a new watch, go base 35 or 45 or jump in with the big boys with a 7 or 900 series.

It’s a 100 dollar watch that they sell for 300 dollars that I bought for 150.

Good to know. My gf has the 45s and likes it...I was struggling to figure out why the 235 costs $100 more than the 45s. They seem really similar. I’m hoping for some good Black Friday/cyber Monday Garmin sales on Amazon, have a $100 gift card to burn and want to upgrade from my Vivosport band.

Yeah. The formula they use is based partially on HR, and if the HR monitor screws up (they all do periodically), then it it is useless. My chest strap and vivoactive were the most reliable for HR, but even that combo was off for periods of time. My wrist monitor is ridiculous at times. I'll be running EZ, not even breathing hard, and it has my HR at 190.
