the impeachment is akin to an indictment
the trial and conviction then would have to happen in the Senate

The Senate then can hear the case and decide to remove or not to remove him from office. That would require a 2/3 majority to happen...which the GOP didnt have for Clinton and the Dems certainly wont have any time soon if ever again.
It will be a dog and pony show. Trump could refuse to even show up if he was called to appear before Congress and still nothing would happen except skyscreamers having more paid protests.

So long as he's not convicted and removed by the Senate, nothing.
If he is convicted and removed, Pence becomes President and his selection for VP would have to be confirmed by the Senate.
