If you think Cherokee is bad, you should make the trip down to Murphy and check out what they got going on there. The casino there is depressing as frick, but the hotel is a decent place to stay when I have to work out that way.
Onto These Hills use to be a great watch in Cherokee, but then awhile back they thought it was too white man, so they redid the play from the native perspective and it blew arse. They just redid it again a few years ago to bring back some of the elements from the original, but it's not the same.
That's why you come in through Townsend or Greenbrier and take the river road into the park. You never see that garbage.

We stay in a cabin closer to town and I’ve found a few free parking lots that are very hidden unless you know where to go. We usually start with breakfast at Crockets or Log Cabin and then go do the roaring fork trail. Pick up lunch at Old Dads and bring into the park for a picnic. Spend the afternoon hiking and swimming in streams. Head back to room for hot tub and change clothes for dinner. Dollywood another day. Cases Cove and Wear valley one day. Pig iron Forge one afternoon and evening. Spend time after dinner on parkway in Gatlinburg. That way everyone gets what they want, the kids are happy, it makes for a good trip.
Buy moonshine or wine the first day and carry with you in a yeti cup while you walk around. That’s what we like to do.
Sugarland Cellars is the best wine I think. The moonshine is all about the same. Still good though.
