Thats because they are telling him that he needs all new rotors and everything. Its a scam.

Bought my wife a Jaguar S-Type 10 years ago. Only had it a few years. Took it in to the dealership for a few recalls and they sent us a estimate for $1400 for brakes at 21K miles Said they could not turn the rotors that were on the vehicle, they had to be replaced everytime. I was like why are the rotors bad at 21K?

Long story short, I took it to a friend/mechanic and he replaced the pads for $200 or so on all 4 wheels. The factory pads suck and you cant turn the rotors but they were fine and did not need changing.

There are a few rules in life in car buying. Two of them are don't ever buy anything from the past 2 decades from Land Rover or Jaguar.

Still will do it, for $2890 since I’ve started a bidding war.
