re: Anyone have experience with a Home Warranty?

I bought a house a couple of years ago and the owner supplied 2 years of American Home Shield coverage, since some of the appliances were getting up there in age.

In two years, I’ve used it 5 times. I have had my pool pump and cleaner booster replaced, as well as a new dishwasher and range installed. The range alone was $4K. The coverage expired last month and I renewed it for 80-something bucks a month. I could keep coverage at that price for 5 years and still wouldn’t have spent what it would have cost me to make those replacements. I’m playing with house money and it’s working for me so far.
