I won’t put too much stock in his batting average halfway through a season but I agree he is overrated. He has always been billed as a 5-Tool player when he really only has 2, maybe 3 tools. He has always been lumped together with the very best players in the game but he is not in the same category as a Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, or Manny Machado.

hasn’t really ever had a great hitting season
he was the fricking MVP in 2015 and led the MLB in offensive and overall WAR, home runs, 3rd in BA, 1st in slugging%, and 1st in OPS. he missed 50 games last year but still managed 29 HRs, 87 RBIs, and hit .319

Why don't you tell me the tools you think he doesn't have and I'll laugh at your response.
the hot takes in this thread
Harper is a douche of the highest order, but good lord

Harper and Machado came up at the same time. They have played pretty much the same amount of games in their careers. Harper has been worth 28.7 fWAR, Machado 26.8 fWAR.

Betts has been very consistent, but his peak has, thus far, been below Harper's 2015 season.
