Have a few upcoming road trips and need something to pass the time. I've read and/or listened to a lot of the Grisham and Clancy stuff and really enjoyed them. Did the Serial podcast and that was interesting.

In graduate school I used to drive from Baton Rouge to Des Moines 3 or 4 times a year. I would go to the library on Goodwood and get long history books on tape. History of WWI, History of WWII, Churchill's Memior.
Enjoyed the learning.

If you like Grisham then Steve Martini might be good.
I also enjoyed a book called IQ. Author escapes me.
Just finished Shogun and I’m in Lonesome Dove now. Both great.

First go through all the Hardcore History podcasts ever made. Then start on audiobooks.

The Longmire series by Craig Johnson and the Prey series by John Sandford.
Both are detective based.
The narrator for the Longmire series is the best in the business. ETA: George Guidall
Both series are about 60% available on your free library apps.

Yeah he’s pretty good. I really like David Strathairn who does many of Louie L’Amours books.
Sometimes when searching for books on audible I search by narrator cause I know if the narration is good I’m probably going to like the book. The opposite is also true.

I'm not a sci-fi guy per se, but I thoroughly enjoyed Scalzi's Old Man's War series...at least through book III, where I am now.
There really is a lot of:
...said Perry
...said Ann
...he said
...she said
But it's dialogue-driven plot points, so you don't notice it till you listen for it. Cool overall concept and well executed. Very logic-based sci-fi.

If you like Scalzi, then you need to read Lock In by Scalzi.

Definitely alot of that, but I didn't care. Very good comedy, really cool concepts, and a good story. I have Redshirts from Scalzi on my nightstand, but haven't cracked it yet.
