Setting aside the humor for a moment, estimates of Koko’s IQ are hard to nail-down, but she seems to have been somewhere at the bottom of the second SD below the mean for humans (70-75). (Some claim “low 80s,” but I disagree).

If 70-75 is accurate, she was more intelligent than 2-5% of humans. If one has any intellectual curiosity at all, it is difficult NOT to see her as fascinating.
