re: Should we really be spending 2/3 of federal spending on the old and sick?

I believe we as a society should come together to have available basic health care for everyone. I’m not saying it has to be a government mandate or provided by the government but that should be a value we collectively embrace. That being said, the operative word is “basic”. Unfortunately everyone can’t be entitled to cutting edge treatment and life-prolonging/enhancing operations just “because”. Finding that line where basic ends and expanded begins however is the tricky part.
