Honestly no one really knows. There are studies claiming it does, studies claiming it doesn't, and some studies even suggesting it prevents cancer. The problem is most of those studies have been funded by organizations with dubious intentions one way or the other. That and the legality of weed means that they rely on self reporting.

Personally, I figure it can't be a good thing to inhale smoke but luckily there are other forms of partaking.
