SEC presidents voted today. Previously, SEC required grad transfers to sit out a year when transferring to another SEC school
This is for "GRAD" transfers which according to the NCAA they have been eligible immediately anyway.

Progress, but not enough. NCAA needs to stop restricting transfers for non-graduates. No restrictions on coaches, athletic department officials or school administrators. Students should be treated the same.

Yep I believe so. Coaches can’t block it from happening now.

Basically sounds like the league said SUCK IT NICK

Now Nick can just follow those rules....

I understand it for grad transfers. If you go to college, and earn your degree, then you should be able to freely pick the school you want to go to. In the case of players like Burrow, the kid wants to make it to the NFL. Without playing in college, that would have been a huge road block.
Opening it to any player can transfer to any school, at any point during his college career, is opening a bad bag of worms in my opinion. These are kids that think they should be playing as freshman, because that is what they are used to. In most cases, they probably aren't ready yet. Forcing them to sit a year kind of deters them from leaving, and making a better decision, rather than hoping from team to team. I hope they don't take it this far, but I agree with the grad transfers. At least the grad transfers are coming out of it with a degree, if nothing else.

That would be terrible.

It's so sad to see people voluntarily engage in these activities. Poor things.

Sure thing. You will make minimum wage throughout your whole college enrollment while playing football. Next, you will no longer go to college for free AND you WILL be expected to pay for ALL of your own expenses. That includes any meals and hotels for any and all travel; which includes post season appearances where hotel stays can be multiple times along with several consecutive nights stay.
There, all settled.
Now let’s see how long some of these “oppressed” turds stay enrolled in school.

No way you open it to all players...honor your commitment.

I can’t believe you can block any transfers anywhere. If they sit out a year they should be able to go wherever the hell they want.

If they sit out a year, ok.

That makes sense. I can get behind that, but not making them sit out a year is a horrible horrible horrible idea, with the exception of grad transfers.

The courts will probably decide this for the NCAA eventually. Some kids realize they made a mistake and are unhappy. They shouldn’t be “deterred” and sitting out a year is a stiff penalty. Maybe there’s a compromise. A player can transfer after 2 years if their GPA and academic progress is satisfactory.? Coaches should not have the power to restrict their choices. That’s downright un-American.

I get what you are saying, and I agree with the restrictions on where they can transfer. I don't, however, at all agree that they should just freely be able to jump all over without any consequences.
Maybe a better compromise would be making a commitment a 4 year scholarship commitment by the school (instead of just a year by year). Only way a school can break that commitment is because of grades or other legal troubles. Only way a player can break the commitment is by sitting out a year. Doesnt that seem fair on both ends? Both the school and player would then be forced to make/honor their commitment.

Grads shouldn't have to sit. I am okay with it.

- You can transfer without sitting out anywhere you want if you a grad transfer. You’ve graduated and completed your obligation with that institution.
- You can transfer anywhere you want if you sit out a year.
- Also some sort of clause for kids at schools where their coaches leave. Maybe out of conference eligible immediatly if your coach is fired or leaves.

frick that.
Kids will leave constantly and the cross-program recruiting will get ridiculous.
If you graduate, I agree it should be free transferring anywhere.

I think you have to limit it to firings. Otherwise, you could have a mass transfer of talent to follow a coach.
Imagine that with Franklin leaving Vandy for PSU.
