Do you have any insight here, as far as the difference in travel based on firm location?
For sure, smaller markets typically equal more travel. They have a tendency to farm you out to other offices based on needs and your capacity.
However some of the consulting/advisory jobs are based on LT contracts that may very well be local. I would certainly ask about they type of projects they have going on. Being an experienced hire, they will likely have more of a plan and take your input more than a staff fresh out of school.
I will say that some travel, like a week every 2 months, would be nice and add variety. But their is hard to find that balance in the B4.

Gotcha. Thanks for the insight.
I agree on the travel at reasonable intervals. I was fortunate to have some travel at my previous job, bout 3 times a year at maybe 3-4 days at the time. That was pre-children, but this would actually move us into a bigger family support system which certainly takes some of the sting out, IMO.
I’m sort of in the trench between knowing to get where and what I want I’ll end up in roles that will require at least periodic travel, which is refreshing if for nothing but the opportunity to see new places, and being the perfect family man. I love my wife and children greatly, but that also partly drives me towards the goals I’ve always had. Even now, I work generally 10-10.5 hours a day, but I get to come home and I enjoy the weekends. I will make sure to inquire on the plan and requirements on travel.

I didn’t travel for 3 months then four consecutive weeks went across the country 3 times and overseas once. Big 4 keeps you on your toes.
