Probably so but one has to decide "if I'm going to keep this truck for 2-3 years or am I going to keep it 8-10 years"?

If you are the former, go with the cheaper truck. If you prefer the latter option I'd go with the Tundra. No doubt repairs will be needed during those 8-10 years.

Those repairs will be less costly with the Tundra over the long run.
