This must happen often. During the birth of one of my kids, we were in a room talking to the nurse, in the middle of the long hours waiting for delivery.
Then she heard a ruckus out in the hallway and she excused herself from our room.
Later she returned to say they had to help deliver a baby virtually in the hallway. I think they at least got the mother on a gurney.
