It’s the height of groupthink to say that Stevens is far and away the best coach. Some saying they would take him over any player in the league is udderly laughable. As for the voting, each coach voted for first place only. So him not getting any votes is really NBD.

Why do none of Stevens assistants get credit, yet when people talk about pop Kerr etc they always talk about how great the assistants are.

It really isn't. Ironically, groupthink is exactly why he is far and away the best coach. At the absolute highest level, 29 out of 30 coaches fall for an egregious fallacy of sitting a player with foul trouble. There is absolutely no rational behind it except for it is done by other coaches. If they are that irrational, what makes you think their strategy is any less irrational?
No different than religiously punting on 4th down, just because it was done before the invention of the forward pass. Groupthink allows somebody who resists it to be rational in a sea of irrationality, and thus to have
