Yep, news flash but most companies would rather employ a wife beater than someone who’s going to run their mouth to the media about something that could get the team fined massive amounts of money, lose them a huge amount of capital (in the form of draft picks), or get executives fired. There isn’t a single NFL exec who legitimately gives even half of a frick about possibly having to kick someone off the team for past character issues in comparison to what Guice did, as that’s a risk for a huge percentage of the kids that go into the NFL anyway. What Guice did is probably the most damaging thing that a player can possibly do to a team and its decision makers/top executives, and that scared people off. It is what it is.
I’m just saying that I’m tired of seeing him run to the media and give dramatic accounts as to why there was some huge preconceived conspiracy against poor Derrius in the draft and how it’s everyone else’s fault except his. If he never runs straight to a radio show and makes those comments, he likely gets drafted much higher. Period. If he had such a massive problem with the way things were handled and he wanted legitimate change, why not take the professional route and bring it up to the Players’ Association after he was drafted? Did he really have to go straight to Lebatard DURING THE DRAFT when he had other options, including bringing this up in 10 years after his career is over, then cry about dropping? It’s honestly pretty ridiculous and I’m shocked that there are so many people who are acting bewildered at his situation.
