the PK on our HS team practiced with K2's with much narrower posts....he never missed
My son kicks size up from that, 7 (10-12 yr old)...where'd he find narrow posts? I just have my son kick on the back of the end zone at the posts from the side...so effectively one post.

I would get him a youth size. Most footballs come in official, youth, junior and pee wee. Youth covers 12-14 years old...probably start trying to move him up if he has the talent in 8th grade. Actual types of balls, I would look at Wilson GST Leather series or Nike vaper one. Hope that helps

Cool, I will. Thanks.
He does well with Juniors, makes them from 40+...consistently at 35 yds.
i need three this time, two was a ton of work for me.

Your son is going to play high school soccer, lose in the quarter finals his senior year and then go to college. He'll smoke a little weed, get his management degree and get into sales. It's all going to be alright, calm down Maradona.

He'll win a couple of States, maybe not his senior year though...a couple in football too.

Was jk about being better, I was a decent kicker but our qb was a man child, 6’4”, 225lbs. As a sophomore, and this was in the 70s so he was bigger than some of our linemen and could kick it over that mountain there, I was a better punter though

Punting is a bitch. I almost bought my boy a punting net, since nobody got time for chasing down that shite, for Christmas...but its a damn eyesore.

Just my opinion but I think he would get more benefit out of taking a couple of balls, kicking them around a few thousand times and shagging them himself, at least I did, you learn the characteristics of what your ball does in the air, how to adjust, and how to directional(aim,) kick. My two cents.
ETA: shagging them yourself gives you time in between kicks to analyze and self critique, sort like golf shots, most people at the range hit at way too fast of a pace instead of slowing down and following a pre shot ritual

Apparently soccer coaches/players look down on place kickers...in the just play soccer if you're good enough way.

The other best ball strikers in our club's parents, both coaches, would never think about their kids kicking. They're playing soccer and that's it.

You ever bought your son a gift other than an instrument you can use for drills to get him a college scholly?

I need to get him coaching for punting. It can wait for kicking, he can thump it.
Once I get the larger balls I'll see where he's at. This is from November... LINK I think he'll kick a bigger ball a bit further. He punts 1 out of 5 or 6 well. He lets the ball drop so damn far.

From the way I see most place kickers try to tackle opposing players, they likely have small balls.

I don't want my son to go to college for sports. He's going to a full-on jock (all boys) high school (actually 7-12) though.
I graduated physics, my wife French lit...I hope he chooses something equally as non Vo-tec and I don't want him working his way through college with a sport (I want him to follow his passions, hopefully bring back punk rock as a shitty singer)...and I have money saved. Hopefully it's in state though.

No shite. He'll play football this year without kicking so he at least learns something that may keep him from those highlight reels.

Actually how I got my nickname...I was the new kid on varsity (a kicker at that) and no one knew who the hell I was so they just called my Ray Finkle cause some guys had seen Ace Ventura recently

How was your experience? Pressure pretty tough.
