Which is why it's important politically to beat them to the punch before they attain power again. If legislation is passed that is palatable to both gun owners and the middle of the road people it will be a much more difficult sell to pass hard leftist legislation when they resume power. It won't be deemed necessary by anyone other than the far political left and will be met with derision by the general public.
