Apparently.
Marcia reported that City have the highest bid on the table for de Jong at €60 mil.
Barca is supposedly his dream club, but that midfield is pretty crowded with Rakitic, Arthur, Busquets and Vidal.
Obviously they are somewhat aging, but none of them have really slown down production and Arthur looks to have one spot cemented.
If he did come to City next summer he would immediately battle with Fernandinho for that holding midfield spot. Dinho will be 34 in May and he is already showing a bit of wear in terms of age this season.
I think Barca will get De Ligt to replace Pique in the coming years. If they want de Jong they can get him, but the midfield isn’t as pressing of a concern compared to their defense (Vermaelen, Pique, Llenget and Umtiti) or their No. 9 with Suárez getting on up there in age.
Will be interesting to see how Barca addresses their aging squad after picking up Coutinho and Dembélé.
