QB recruiting

Why would a 5* QB risk joining a team that already has one or more young big-time QBs in front of him (Fields to Georgia) (Tua to Bama) when he could go elsewhere and be the man sooner if not immediately? Seems like they are risking multi millions if they don't win the job and have nothing to show by draft eligible age. Looks like its going to work out for Tua, but why risk it?

Because they aren't pussies and afraid a of competition.

I knew this was the place for intelligent conversation!

I'm sorry you lack the common sense the rest of us have.

I knew from your first comment that I wasnt mentally on your level.
Nevermind the original topic. Can we just post funny gifs instead?

quote:This is poor perspective. It may well be very beneficial to go anywhere where a qb can get a lot of game practice throwing and reading defenses a la Ben Roethlisberger. Would he have been as good if he didn't get all that experience at a small program?

There's no better development that game experience throwing and reading defense.

Not a very good example since he was whining about the Steelers drafting a QB.
Which brings me back to my point that some people aren't afraid of competition.

Kids go to a school where they feel most comfortable and have the best relationship with the coaching staff and current players. Playing time is important, but most kids know they will have to compete for playing time wherever they go.

Your point is dumb. A QB who is fully capable of going 3 and out has no business risking getting stuck behind one of the few QBs in the country that are better than him. Because he aint no bitch that's afraid of competition? Dumb.

WTF does this even mean?

So in college football....
A player can leave for the NFL after 3 years...

So at any school, even a crappy one, there will be competition and there is no certainty that a quarterback will see develop into a starter.
I mean, do you even understand why Fromm got to start or why Tua came in to the national championship game?

I think Fromm got lucky that Eason got hurt. Otherwise he'd have sat for years. If Fromm stays through his senior year and holds the starting job, Fields would be draft eligible and have yet to start a game.

They can always red shirt and hope those guys are 3 and done giving them a chance to earn multiple years of playing time.

Fields is betting that he beats Fromm for the starting slot, Fromm gets seriously injured, or Fromm leaves early. If none of those things happen, a highly talented QB will be draft eligible and yet to start a game. Cause he wasnt scared of a little competition. Multi million dollar mistake.

not really a mistake, If you have a steller junior or senior year at qb you can still be a 1st rounder. Most qb's, even if they are 5star badass's really arn't ready until their junior year anyways.

And Fields could red shirt this year and then have two years to play.
There really aren't that many 4 year starters at any position.

Decide to redshirt as the #1 QB
recruit in the nation?
So assuming that's not what he's thinking and he is in fact looking forward to becoming a millionaire asap...
Going somewhere that already has an NFL caliber QB under center (who's a freshman no less) is clearly the wrong move.
