Correct. They’re hopeful they get some self distribution help during next years legislature session.
He won’t be able to can in his current building, but the 2nd location will be much bigger and I guess he’ll include canning capability there. They’re aiming to open around Mardi Gras 2019.

Will he have a place to sit and enjoy the beer that consists of something other than rickety middle school cafeteria chairs, rotting industrial spools, and 10'x10' square of broken uneven brick?

I will keep myself hopefully optimistic.

No I hear you. I’ve almost fallen over due to a chair leg sliding into a crack many times.

Sounds like yall need to stay at the corporate breweries.

Nah, courtyard is the best but it has its drawbacks. It’s getting harder and harder to bring my 1 year old son also

I've heard that the intent of the new 2nd Courtyard location is to provide increased capacity for brewing and canning, as well as a better tap room set up. I don't think the second location will come to fruition unless the distribution ordeal is sorted out. Call me pessimistic but don't I trust La government to follow through on promises. I don't have any issue with their set up as it is now and I like that it's basically a garage with great beer.

The location is already set and blueprints are drawn. It’s gonna happen regardless of the law.
Does the law allow for canned beer to be sold in house? That could be what they do until they decide to distribute.
Edit- I don’t know where it will be, though I have an idea. They’re being very tight lipped on that.

Dont think so. Consumed on premises permit. Not sure how growlers fit in there though.

That makes no sense when you take into account growlers and crowlers. It makes sense that it doesn’t make sense though.

Regular breweries can sell crowlers/growlers/cans/bottles... not sure why a brewpub wouldn't be able to sell cans.
ETA:
A Microbrewer permit is what Courtyard has now... why they call it that instead of a brewpub I don't know.
ETA:
quote:
Microbrewer Permit: This permit authorizes the holder of a Class AG or Class AR permit to engage in the brewing beer and other malt beverages at a single location in an amount not to exceed 12,500 barrels during the licensed year. The holder of this permit is authorized to sell the manufactured beverages at retail for consumption on or off the licensed premises. However, this permit does not authorize the permit holder to sell the manufactured beverages at wholesale, either directly or through a distribution agreement. All beverages produced by the microbrewer shall be taxed in the same manner and at the same rate as beverages produced by other breweries, as provided by law.

Wonder if them offering outside taps changes that.
Who knows with Louisiana/Orleans Parish laws.

Re Urban South
My friends and I like the kid friendly aspect. They have shite for them to do, rather than just allowing them.
But yeah the place is hot as hell.
My band played several times and once I was so drenched i looked like I had jumped in a swimming pool with all my clothes on.

They’d have to give up the guest taps

If they wanted to be a full distribution brewery, yes under current law.
If they just wanted to sell their own product in cans, no.

Assuming small batches, around Parish size releases, he could really bank a lot of money. The other breweries in the city already do it with onsite releases

So that was a shiny hook? I almost took a bite since I would not change one thing out there outside of some more shade.
