I think this is kinda missing my point. You are a rural 2 lane road in a state you don't live in. You are 50 years old and presumably have been driving since 16. Unless you are an idiot you don't assume the speed limit in this instance is 70 unless you see a sign telling you that. 99% of the time in the us it's going to be 55, as a life of driving experience should tell you. Legally, it doesn't matter if you saw a sign or not, by taking to the road it's on you to over the posted traffic laws regardless of if you saw the sign. If that were not the case you could never be guilty of speeding by just never looking at a speed limit sign
