just for shits and giggles, if Paul George wants to come here in a S&T, we would have to renounce Cousins, and offer enough back in a trade where our total salary after the trade stayed under the cap, or something slightly over it?

So if PG signs a new 5 year deal worth $30M the first year, then we need to send back around $22M, assuming we aren't keeping Cousins? Solo/Moore/Ajinca

If we wanted to keep Cousins, then we'd need to send back equal trade value to S&T for George? Solo/Niko/Moore

Does that sound right?

You cannot receive a player in a S&T if you will be above the Tax Apron after the trade, which next year would be about $127 million. To do that you need to cut Okafor/Liggins and renounce rights to Rondo (you'd have to use the MLE to bring him back) and not sign Cousins first so it's just his cap hold on the books. Then you only have to send out about $26 million meaning one of Solo/Niko + Moore + Ajinca should be enough to bring back George.

Just hypothetically, then, if it boiled down to choosing between keeping 1)keeping Boogie or 2) somehow getting George, what do you do? Sadly, given how last season played out, I think you let Boogie go in return for adding George, right?

I’m just spitballing and having fun, it it’s an interesting thought.
