2020 Walker PG prospect reportedly picked up an LSU offer for basketball today. The 6'0 sophomore Cook is a two sport star who led Walker to a 5A State championship this past season and already has basketball offers from the likes of Georgetown, Tulane, and Houston and has football offers from West Virginia and Tennessee as a WR.

He’s LSU all the way baby. Next year his teammate Brian Thomas will get an LSU offer and is also LSU all the way.

Will they both play football next season? They have a young freshman QB Ard that is pretty salty himself.
Their skilled positions should be nasty next season.
Will they stick with football pr basketball or possibly two sport athletes at LSU?
Thomas is absolutely pheonomenal as a freshman.

They’ll both finish out HS in both basketball and football but their post HS future is basketball.

Thomas is a 5-star talent at receiver. Relay that information.
Kid has athleticism off the charts.

I’ll be honest, I don’t think that Brian Thomas ever gets an LSU offer. I don’t think that he will wind up being a top 150 nation player, unless he winds up 6’8+. I think that he is going to be a mid major player, and has a chance to be a really good one, but I don’t think he winds up at the level LSU is currently recruiting

Coach u are exactly right . Kids game is football . He probably won’t grow into the power forward he needs to be . Great athlete great kid from what I’ve heard

I honestly think Cook has a higher ceiling in football as well. He's a good bball player but his frame is more suited for football in my opinion. It's getting harder than ever before for under 6'3 PGs to make it in the NBA with guys like 6'10 Ben Simmons and 6'6 Lonzo Ball running the point now. I don't think Cook will grow any taller than he is now. On the other hand he is already tall enough to be a pro level WR or CB (he's taller than Odell) and he looks like he's added some bulk to his frame as a 10th grader.

Just another update on Cook. Arizona St offered him one for football a day or so ago. Pretty good list he is racking up in both sports.
Numerous colleges have visited Walker the past couple weeks for several kids

quote:no, it is not. You don't know anything about the NBA. There are no more tall pgs now than there were 30 years ago. And for freaks sake, Lonzo Ball is your example? Lonzo Ball sucks.

No, Philly fan is right, but it’s nothing new. Jalen Cook is 6’0 tall, and there is only one starting point guard 6’0 tall in the NBA (CP3). PGs are getting taller in the nba, with most being somewhere between 6’3-6’4.

He's what, 15 or 16? He could easily grow another few inches.

Lol I never said Lonzo was good. But he is an example of the trend the NBA has taken in recent years regarding the PG position. Just look at all the PGs taken in the lottery last year. Markelle Fultz (6'4) Lonzo (6'6) DeAaron Fox (6'4) Frank Ntilikina (6'5) Dennis Smith (6'3). The PG position is getting bigger and bigger and it's getting harder for smaller PGs to compete. Yes there are guys like CP3 and Kemba who can dominate despite their size but they are the exception not the rule. Hell, even right now people are saying Trae Young might be "too small" at 6'2. This is not a slight at Cook at all. I think he's a great player and I hope he can make it to the NBA. But if I were advising him I would let him know his odds of getting an NFL contract are definitely higher than NBA and that's not due to anything under his control. Every year we see guys trying to make it in basketball when it's clear all along what sport they should really be focusing on (Rico Gathers, Brian Bridgewater, etc). Most guys find this out late in their college careers but Cook has already seen major success on the football field. Again not saying he should quit BBall because I think he's great. But I could see him being the next Jarvis Landry, TreDavious White before I see him as the next Chris Paul.

Yes he "could" grow another few inches. Or he could stay the same height he is now. If you looked at Cook recently he already has a pretty filled out frame for a 15/16 year old and I've seen him stand next to his dad and older brother and he is about the same height as them already. Regardless of that, he doesn't need to grow anymore to be a top flight football prospect. He would already be considered a "bigger CB" at 6'0. But to be a top flight NBA prospect he would need another 2 inches at least (or an All American type college career like Kemba).
