Mullen is overrated.
9-4 last season is great for MSU, but the season before that, he was 6-7.
In half of his seasons at State, he had either a losing record or was one within one game of a non-winning season. That's kind of what you would expect from a non-probation State, who has the benefit of having Kentucky as their permanent cross-division foe.

And the season before that they were 9-4. Season before that they were up to #1 in the country.
