I will be in Vienna in about a month and was looking into going to and Austrian Heuriger. (wiki: Eastern Austrian wine taverns in which specially licensed local winemakers serve their most recent year's wines for short periods following the growing season. They are renowned for their atmosphere of Gemütlichkeit shared among a throng enjoying young wine, simple food, and traditional music.)
Has anyone ever been to one, specifically one in Vienna? I was just looking for a few different options for myself and a few others who are not big in to Opera.

We took the tram to Grinzing and walked to a bunch of different heurigen. I don’t really remember which ones...this was in 2010. I think Rick Steves’ Vienna (or maybe Austria) book had a walking tour of that area that we did, and we probably went to some of the ones he recommended. I’ve heard Grinzing has a touristy reputation, but it didn’t seem that way to me. We went in April though.
If you have time for a day trip, I definitely suggest taking the short train ride to Krems/Durnstein in the Wachau valley, and then renting bikes and riding along the Danube visiting different wineries. Makes for an amazing day if the weather is nice.
