Fishing guide on home lake

Has anyone here ever went out with a guide on one of your local/home lakes? I'm wondering if it's worth it, and if you learned anything from the experience.
I have been bass fishing my home lake for some time now, and while I can always catch fish, it's usually limited to 3-4 in the boat.
I know there are plenty of big fish on this lake (Bistineau in NWLA for those wondering), and good numbers, but it is a VERY hard lake to learn.
I have always had good luck hiring guides on trips down south for redfish and trout, but that is really my only experience.

Yes. They can teach you how to correctly fish the lake, types of areas the fish like during different seasons. Basically, give you help in finding your own fish.
I am hiring a guide on Toledo to help me setup my units, better read my units and how to narrow down areas that should hold fish.

From the way your post sounded, you've explained this idea with the guide and he was okay with it. I've wondered how it would go over with guides knowing you're going to be coming back and hitting the same techniques and areas as them.

First of all, this is a service the guide offers. Secondly, he will show me the types of areas to look for, I will not be very concerned with catching fish on the trip. That way I can go to my part of the lake and try to duplicate the areas. I don’t want him to find fish for me, I want him to help me learn the best way to break down an area and eliminate dead water.
We actually fish out of my boat.

that is interesting. do you mind giving the name of the guide?... and giving an update afterwards of how it went?

I think there are a few but the one my client used and the one I will use is Jason Courville. I think they call them "on the water electronics classes." He typically has a morning charter then hops in your boat after to work with you for around 3 hours or so. Check out his FB page pics. He has tons of electronics pics.

I also fish toledo a lot. I have considered doing this for the South end of the lake (where I fish) as well.

Jason Courville and Joe Joslin are both pretty good guides on TB.

As is Darrell Gleason, but they all tend to stay on the south end.
