The wife and I want to take our 18mo on a day hike. We will be willing to drive 2 hours. Any nice spots in South Arkansas worth the trip?

Wed love to have the time to get up to Albert Pike but think that will be pushing it.

Cheers

Eta we are in Shreveport

Im not aware of many "hiking" spots around here. Im in Bradley County.

Just found out today that I am starting an elevator mod in Shreveport Monday. I forget the name of the building.

Why not go to the Longleaf Vista recreational area south of Natchitoches? There is a small trail there and if you want longer there is the Backbone and Caroline Dormon trail right down the road.

Yeah, there’s not much choice for good hiking till you get above Hot Springs. There are a few areas in the South, but very few, and mosquitoes are the shite right now, go North young man....

Albert Pike/Shady Lake area will be the closest with decent hiking.

And the change in landscape is dramatic enough to be worth it. I'd just leave home early and drive to the hills.
