How are fish caught private ponds eligible for state records?

Who else thought Hawaii would be higher with its tropical climate?

I hadn't thought about it... Maybe competition for food source? How about Alaska? Wanna smuggle some up there and stock a small farm pond just to hold the record?

I’d never thought about bass in Hawaii before I saw the list, but being they are there I figured they would be stocked and managed and have a year round growing season.

I didn’t think Hawaii would have bass TBH

I fished Lake Fork where the TX record came from this past Sunday. It’s a really cool lake.
I thought Caddo now had the LA record with a 16+ caught in the last year or two... May have been on the TX side though.

I thought the current LA state record bass was from the LSU lakes?

Top 10, but has been broken many times over, mostly by Caney.

There is a little controversy over the fish from Georgia. It was caught in 1932, never measured, weighed on a scale before they had calibrated official weigh stations and they ate the evidence.
A guy officially tied it in Japan a few years ago with official scales.

I was shocked to see the SC state record was caught all the way back in 1949.

Damn, that was 2010. Caught on the LA side, and they left the lake on the TX side disqualifying it as the LA record I guess.
I do know the sharalunker tagged and released the fish, it was caught again the next year but it had lost a couple of ounces.
