The Make A Wish stuff has come since he was the face of the company.
Tons of stories out there of him, during his early days as a heel, being at a baseball card show, asking a kid who his favorite player is, then buying the kid a signed bat.
He may not be a saint but the kid outreach stuff has a long history even before he was a superstar.
