Can someone help me out? Tried the recs from google but nothing worked. On IPhone 6 if that matters

As far as I know, you can't unless you have YouTube red or a Google music subscription (which includes red).

There are subscriptions you can get that allow you to install modified apps. I use builds.io to install apps like Kodi and Movie Box. They have a YouTube++ app that allows for background playback. I think it’s $11.99/year. There are other similar services.

will try Dolphin. Hate when I’m playing a fairly long video and accidentally hit one of the suggestions on the bottom and lose my place.
