I actually agree with him. Now where was this pussy when Obama did the same thing?
Posted on 4/13/18 at 11:47 pm to OMLandshark
As stated upthread, he was against Obama doing the same thing.

Agreed. While I agree with the strikes this has been abused for years

There wasn’t congressional approval back in ‘13 either. Was it illegal then?

Not true. War Powers Act authorizes presidential action without the consent of Congress for up to 60 days. The president then has to get authorization within that time frame or cease hostilities. Barack Obama took similar action in Libya under the War Powers Act without a Use of Force Authorization from Congress. However, not only did Barack Obama never go back and request authorization after the fact, he also refused to disengage forces well past the 60 day requirement, a clear violation. Nothing happened. Tim Kaine certainty didn't speak out against it (Rand Paul did speak out as per usual).

I will tip my hat to Kaine on this one, atleast he is consistent on this Topic. And isn't just grandstanding to try and score cheap points.
NPR... i know gross. But interview transcript with Tim Kaine on Obama/Syria
On Obama actions in syria, and lack of approval from congress.
EDIT: Got damnit, im late to post. But i'll leave it up as record of my give props to Kaine on remaining true to his position on the matter regardless of party. I can appreciate that. Never thought I'd give him any kudos, but there it is.

We're in an undeclared war that the president started on August 8, 2014 and that Congress has refused to debate and vote on it as the Constitution requires. But as the ISIL threat and this U.S. involvement continues to expand, I do think Congress is going to have to confront and really engage with the administration on what the strategy is and how much of it we are willing to authorize.

The only reason anyone gets accepted to Ivy League professional schools is because of great connections, zero to do with talent, intelligence or aptitude hence Tim Kaine

He is as consistent on opposing Presidents waging war as is Rand Paul. He was one of the few Democrats who was outspoken in his criticism of Obama and HRC for their invasion of Libya and support for regime change. I was shocked when he was chosen as HRC's nominee for VP.
Because he stepped down as DNC chair so DWS could be named and the Clinton Cartel could control the DNC. It was promised to him in 2011.

So is President Trump supposed to wait for a Congressional vote when Russia or North Korea launches nuclear weapons at us? We have 2,000 troops in Syria. Maybe he was trying to protect those troops from a possible chemical attack.

President’s the Commander in Chief for a reason, Congress doesn’t consist of generals and military people, WTH do they know about leading the armed forces? Common sense, everybody

Well, he's fricking right. American presidents have ignored that requirement for the past 20 years though.
