Which makes you wonder, if he was granted an extra year, why is he leaving Stanford if he's a good CB? Their talent level is not better than LSU's there, and he had 4 years in the system. If he's leaving its because he wasn't going to get playing time there, which should tell you something.

While that is a likely scenario, it’s just one of many plausible explanations. He’s from South Louisiana, so what if he has some family or personal issues going on and just wants to be closer to home? He has his Stanford degree and now he has an opportunity to play for LSU. I say welcome.

Or he was graduating and wanted to pursue his masters at another university.

Not that he's going to be this level, or that he even needs to be, but Russell Wilson wasn't going to get time at NC State either. So he left.
