Just like with the transfer kicker and two transfers (DL/WR) from last year, they each now based on the rules updates took away one of our 25 spots to sign recruits on that given year (or backcounters if you had any).

the kicker counts as a scholarship because he is playing this year

the 2 guys from last year counted as a scholarship because they sat out, and are playing this year

i guess im curious how someone counts as a scholarship after they leave the program. Alexander will count for a scholarship for this years recruiting class and next years you are saying, even though he wont be on the team next year

Clearly you are not understanding how this works. Both transfers Fohoko and Giles counted against the 85 limit last year. Both of them, the new kicker and Alexander will count against the 85 this coming season.

That is not what I am referring to. Transfers used to not count against the 25 recruit signing limit each year. Now, they do, which cost LSU two back counter spots last year for Giles/Fohoko and a normal spot for the kicker.

LSU had 2 spots left over I believe after Surtain bailed and Foster didn't show either. Those could've been used towards new recruits in the 2019 class next Spring. Instead, we lost one now for Alexander. That's how it works and is a major reason LSU is in the position they are in now. O and company screwed the pooch not realizing they lost a signing spot to the kicker then doubled down on stupidity with pushing away Goodrich for a mediocre QB with little chance of coming here.

In the end, that is why it costs you a 4-year player.

Now, there is one caveat. If a player signs with you but doesn't come in, they only count for that year, even if they sign with you the next year. Justin Vincent and Deangelo Benton counting against multiple classes.
