This quote shows just how far we have strayed. Our Founders made it clear that Congress was to declare war. They saw in France what happened when an executive like Louis XIV waged continuous warfare for 6 decades. They understood how easy it was for the executive to declare war and how dangerous that would be for liberty and order.
And yet here we are, cheerleading a President's unilateral declaration of war as if it's something to celebrate. It is a testament to how fundamentally bastardized we've become.

Absolutely agree that congress should be the one to declare war but that really hasn't mattered. all you have to do is look at Syria last year and Libya and Kosovo. President does whatever the frick he wants and congress roles over.
