This is correct. When a cold sore is coming on there is a phenomena called a "prodrome" a premonition that a cold sore is coming. The virus travels on nerve pathways so there is actually science behind it. You can take Valtrex pills or use Zovirax Ointment as a topical or both. They are antivirals and will reduce the length of the cold sore and if started early enough may prevent it altogether. Don't bother with OTC products if you really want an effective treatment.
