I've had the Marmot Precip jacket for a few years and love it. Will never use an umbrella again.

Bought it for a trip to Glacier National Park and Banff. Did a great job keeping me dry. When zipped up all the way with the hood on, you will remain dry.

It doesn't come down as low as a parka, though. There are armpit zip vents to help with the heat.

ETA: When it's zipped up and the hood is on, I like how the hood hangs straight out from my head a little bit to keep rain off out of my face. Many other jacket's I've seen it where the hood just flops down over your eyes.

I have this one as well. It vents well and I don't get as hot and sticky as with some of the others I have had over the years. This one has traveled all over the world with me and is still going strong.

I am pro Marmot too.

Easy lightweight water and windproof shell. Can have anything on underneath. Very versatile.
