They can map where it is though by using gravitational lensing where it’s mass warps spacetime so that it bends light and we are able to see that.
Yep, watched it on space channel...all theoretical physics and math, but it's an explanation for things they don't know. That's as deep as this fella is gonna go with it.
My astronomy question is where did the initial mass or energy come for the big bang? From nothingness? When they express this "god particle"...I'll be gone. For now, I'll take creation on faith.

Dark matter fills 'empty' space, strongly interacts with visible matter and is displaced by visible matter.
The reason for the 'missing dark matter' is that the galaxy is so diffuse that it doesn't displace the dark matter outward and away from the galaxy to the degree that the dark matter is able to push back and cause the stars far away from the galactic center to speed up.
It's not that there is no dark matter connected to and neighboring the visible matter. It's that the galaxy is not well defined enough to displace the dark matter to such an extent that it forms a 'halo' around the galaxy. Without the dark matter being displaced to the extent that it forms a halo, there is no lensing of the light that passes by the galaxy.
A galaxy's halo is not a clump of dark matter traveling with the galaxy. A galaxy's halo is the state of displacement of the dark matter.

More lies from NASA & the gang.

Dark matter is a monumental fudge factor dreamed up by erroneous physicist in an effort to get their theories to balance. Gravity is the most misunderstood and unexplained force there is.

But he only gives you as much as you can handle.

You two should get a room.

Dark matter and dark energy are the physicists’ ultimate fudge factor when everyone realized our current models cannot predict the behavior of the universe worth a damn
ETA: I see this has already been brought up. The OT is staying educated in their astrophysics, I like it.

Eh more of an agnostic myself.
But we just makes jokes and shite, religious types circle jerk because they think they know it all.
I don't know jackshit and it will probably be that way until I die.

Thats a great point to always remember. Those two exist because our models dont work, and they force those variables in to make them work. Meaning we don't know shite.

The more we learn, the more we learn how little we know.

I'm not a "religious type". I don't KNOW anything, either. I just choose to have faith.

Faith always ends up killing people. We should all be looking for the truth. Regardless of the direction it takes us.

That is awesome baw. I was not calling you a religious type, just generally speaking. I am happy to see that faith has brought joy into your life and I respect the hell out of that.
My dad is a hardcore believer in Christ and I love him and support his beliefs. Just as I do with every other man and woman.
But when you don't have faith in things that others do and the demean you for it...you start to get rubbed the wrong way by it. So, comedy is my medium to express the overwhelming feelings toward the idea of a creator.
