Technically he would have had a max of two years with Saban/Jimbo, but valid point nonetheless.
He originally enrolled in 97 when he first tried to get out of his contract and that started his clock. Officially he was a redshirt sophomore when he first played in 99.

Why is that? Saban and Fisher came in Booty's sophomore season. He had two more years of eligibility when he declared for the draft.

Don't think that's the case. The way I understand it, it doesn't start when you enroll. You actually have to start attending class.
