I believe this is false. They CAN ask, but they are not mandated. Otherwise, why have many of us never had this question ask at any of our appointments?

If I remember this was a big push about 5 years ago or more, but many states passed laws banning doctors from asking such questions, other states banned those questions unless they were medically necessary, etc.

I did have a doctor ask me such a questions during a physical when he ask if I was regularly seeing an eye doctor, dentist, etc. He asked if I owned any guns. I told him yes, and asked him if he wanted to see one. He moved on to the next question.
